Variety, UM and Wieden+Kennedy’s creative teams designed a homepage that merged media and editorial for a visual experience on a customized homepage.
The takeover, called “The History of Innovation,” saw 50 of the most seminal news stories in entertainment from the 1960s to the present, paired with Sony products that were from the same era. It offered a visual story on Sony’s product history and how it aligned with the biggest entertainment news of the given time.
One headline read “Titanic Sails to All-Time Box Office Records,’” which was paired with an ad promotion for the Wega Series High-Definition Television.
“We’re proud to be a part of this unique and innovative digital campaign with Sony Consumer Electronics,” Variety.com editor Stuart Oldham said. “Variety.com is always looking for new partners and working with the brilliant minds at Wieden+Kennedy and UM was truly a pleasure.”
