UM London has been awarded the planning and buying business for cloud-based entertainment company Wuaki.tv, launching a multi-media campaign with some heavy weight TV activity to build awareness of the service in the UK.

Wuaki.tv, which is part of the Rakuten Group (the world’s third largest e-commerce company), is a cloud-based service that allows consumers to stream high-quality entertainment directly on their computer, Smart TV, tablet or game console. One of the largest online video on demand services in Europe, Wuaki.tv is currently available in the United Kingdom, Andorra and Spain, where it boasts over 600,000 registered users.

UM London will be working alongside McCann Barcelona, who were awarded the account after a highly competitive pitch process with a number of undisclosed agencies.

Wuaki.tv Marketing Director, Gonçal Bonmatí, said, “Our goal is to become Europe’s best way of experiencing high quality entertainment directly on your computer, and I am delighted that UM will be helping us to achieve that in the UK market.  A combination of great ideas, a ‘challenger’ approach and great pricing made them the ideal partners.”

Richard Oliver, Head of Investment for UM London, echoed Bonmati’s excitement saying, “Wuaki.tv offers a great proposition, in a world in which technology and devices are becoming increasingly prominent. We’re very excited about working with them to build their profile here in the UK.”

Building on an already successful year, this is the 6th new business win for UM London in 2013, following recent wins with Fuller’s, AIG, Zurich, Mizkan & Hershey’s.

Congratulations to the entire UM London team.
