Following a multi-agency pitch, UM Singapore has been awarded the social media account for Singapore Prisons Service (SPS).

UM has been working with SPS since 2013. The latest assignment expands UM’s responsibilities to managing the organization’s active Facebook and corporate pages as well as driving awareness of its Yellow Ribbon Project initiative.

Launched in 2004 by the former President of the Republic of Singapore, S. R. Nathan, the Yellow Ribbon Project seeks to engage the community in accepting ex-offenders and their families, giving them a second chance at life.

Founded in 1946, the SPS is a uniformed organization under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. As a key member of the Home Team, its responsibilities encompass the safe custody, rehabilitation and aftercare of offenders, and preventive education.

SPS is made up of a professional team of uniformed officers and civilian staff, including psychologists, counsellors, medical personnel, and management officers. Since its creation, SPS has undergone a marked transformation to remake itself as one of the most progressive, secure, and exemplary prison systems that is recognized and respected internationally. SPS is dedicated to the cause of providing secure custody and steering offenders to become law-abiding citizens.
